Andrew McCutchen has been one big highlight reel since his arrival in the MLB. His combination of speed and power are rare enough that he was named NL MVP last season for leading the Pirates to their first playoff berth in over 20 years.

More from MLB

Last night, he was up to his usual tricks once more as he used his quick burst of speed to catch up with a ball in the outfield and make a great catch to keep the Pirates alive in the game.

The catch was very similar to a catch McCutchen made earlier in the season, and others he’s made throughout his career. It gets harder and harder to tell sometimes if the man is more valuable behind the plate or on defense, but either way, as this season is showing, the Pirates will once again only go so far as McCutchen takes them.

Check out the sweet play below:

Once again, the dude is blazing fast. At first it looks like the right fielder is the guy to get it, then you start getting an idea of how fast McCutchen is moving. While he’s had a slow start to the season with his bat, so has Pittsburgh. Hopefully the next highlights we see will be of McCutchen carrying the load with his bat as well.

Unfortunately big catches don’t score runs and the New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 in the second game of their series in New York.
