Per a report from FoxSports.com, Harper got engaged to longtime girlfriend and Ohio State Buckeyes soccer player, Kayla Varner. The 21-year old Harper is out until at least early July after undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his thumb.
According to CSNWashington, Mollie Jane Photography had posted some engagement photos of the young couple, but removed them from the internet once knowledge of them became public. This is the last of the photos posted by the studio left on the internet.
Sometimes this is exactly what a brash young player like Harper needs to bring some balance to life. Maybe having a wife at home will make Harper think twice before crashing into center field walls all over the MLB landscape.
Both Varner and Harper are natives of Las Vegas, Nevada. Varner played for BYU as a Freshman and Sophomore before transferring to Ohio State.
Harper was picked No. 1 overall in the 2010 MLB Draft, he was named the National League Rookie of the Year and he’s a two-time All-Star.
Here’s to a happy life for the young couple, and for less trips to the disabled list for young Harper.
