FIFA 14 World Cup update goes live

As announced earlier this week, EA Sports released information that an update to FIFA 14 would be coming this week.

The update was slated to include a new FIFA 14 Ultimate Team World Cup version as well as a kickoff World Cup 2014 game mode.  While it was initially supposed to be released on Tuesday, the update has now gone live.

With the World Cup kicking off in Brazil in a matter of weeks, EA Sports made sure to stay on top of the issue until being able to roll it out to gamers today.  As Brazil is set to play host to the 2014 FIFA World Cup, it looks as though EA Sports wants to make sure gamers get to experience the excitement in all its virtual glory.

The update rolled out today for the Xbox 360 as well as the Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.  With EA Sports not putting out a new World Cup focused game on next generation consoles, this update is the only way for FIFA gamers on Xbox One or PlayStation 4 to get their fix.

FIFA‘s update comes in the form of a 550 MB download and will take some time to install into the system, so make sure to take that into account when firing up the game for the first time today.  At this point, the Ultimate Team version of the update appears to be down on Xbox still, although the kickoff modes look beautiful.

All 32 World Cup teams will be represented as well as their respective rosters for the big show in Brazil.  With the uproar across the United States in regards to Landon Donovan, FIFA looks like his only shot at World Cup glory.
