Although the Knicks don’t have a pick in this years (The Orlando Magic own their first round pick, the 12th-overall pick by way of the Denver Nuggets and the Houston Rockets own their second round pick, the 42nd-overall selection).

With the Knicks in a poor salary cap situation and with the Carmelo Anthony issue to address, they would like to buy a pick to make a selection at some point in the draft, likely in the second round. They have already reportedly worked out former North Carolina Tar Heels’ power forward James Michael McAdoo and former Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders’ power forward Shawn Jones.

Adam Zagoria of SNY.TV reports that they also worked out former Georgetown Hoyas’ point guard Markel Starks in addition to McAdoo and Jones.

The Knicks will also add another workout this week. According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, former Florida Gators’ big man Patrick Young will be working out for the Knicks.

Starks is ranked as the 81st-best overall prospect in the draft according to Jonathan Givony of Draft Express. He averaged 17.3 points, 4.1 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41.2% from the field, 32.6% from beyond the arc and 87.0% from the free throw line last season. Young put up 11.0 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game while shooting 54.1% from the field and 59.6% from the charity stripe.
