Late in the 2014 MLB Draft this past weekend, the San Diego Padres decided that they were going to make some headlines with one of their final picks. Instead of taking another up-and-coming prospect, they decided to select the young man that had been drafted in the first round of the NFL Draft just a month earlier, Cleveland Browns QB Johnny Manziel.

Of course, they did grab those headlines for a few hours as it was one of the bolder moves of the event, especially considering the fact that Manziel will never see time with the team on the diamond.
However, at the very least they could get some cool marketing out of the deal and another Padres prospect, 2011 draft pick Travis Jankowski, recently showed off his new Manziel baseball swag.
Again, jerseys like that are about all they’re going to get from their new draft pick as he seems firmly set on making the most of his NFL career in Cleveland with the Browns, although Manziel was nice enough to at least express his gratitude upon being selected.
