Joel Embiid is that guy in this year’s draft and his recent foot injury has caused many to believe that he could be this year’s Greg Oden and flame out before he has a chance to shine.
Ailene Voisin of The Sacramento Bee believes that if Embiid is available at No. 8 overall, which he very well might be, the Kings are best off passing on him in favor of someone a little less broken.
"In fact, if Embiid is still available when Pete D’Alessandro prepares to reveal his pick at No. 8, the second-year general manager should put his head down on his desk, meditate for the allotted five minutes and resist temptation. Just say no and move on. The Kings need more players, not more medical bills."
This is the biggest question about Embiid at the moment, whether or not he’s worth taking with a high pick in the draft. While there questions about his health, there are those who think that if he can beat his injuries he might be one the next great big men in the game.
He no doubt has the height to be great and his skills are already impressive for a kid who only recently started playing basketball, but far too often has height alone not been enough and that seems to be the biggest conundrum
