Dallas Mavericks’ Dirk Nowitzki is one of the greatest shooters to ever grace an NBA court. However, he’s also smart enough to know that to win an NBA Championship, he needs help. Currently, there are two huge free agents on the market that can help that cause in LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony.

Would Nowitzki like to help aid in the recruiting process for both of them? Absolutely he would.

Recently, Nowitzki spoke to Marc J. Spears and Yahoo where he expressed his desire to have both on the Mavericks to help take the Western Conference over from the San Antonio Spurs.

In regards to James, Dirk noted that it could be a longshot for the Mavericks to land him, but he as least has to reach out.

“All the teams with cap room got to try [to sign James],” Nowitzki said. “He’s the best player in the league right now. If he’s a free agent – which obviously doesn’t happen very often that the best player in the league is a free agent – than you got to obviously go at it. I don’t know what our chances are, but you at least have to try.”

He even would be more than willing to hand the entire city over to the ‘King.”

“C’mon, you can have the keys to the city [of Dallas],” Nowitzki said of his sales pitch to James. “It’s all yours.”

As for Anthony, while he wasn’t as talkative as he was about James, he noted how much he’d love to have another great scorer along side of him.

Nowitzki said: “He can score with the best of them. If that’s really a possibility, than we’d love to have him.”

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, the Mavericks struck a deal with the Knicks that gave them back Tyson Chandler, and with the money the Mavericks should have available, Dallas as a destination for either men, or both, is very appealing at the moment.
