Chicago Bulls

First, let me say that I really like Doug McDermott. The former Creighton Bluejay is one of the best college basketball players that I have ever seen, and he earned every bit of his lottery selection in the 2014 NBA Draft. However, the Chicago Bulls paid far too steep of a price to acquire him.

Chicago elected to trade both the 16th and 19th picks to the Denver Nuggets for the rights to McDermott, and with that package, McDermott needs to be effective immediately. Comparisons to another Creighton shooter, Kyle Korver, are flawed in that McDermott isn’t the type of player who moves without the ball and needs to be a catch-and-shoot guy, but there are real concerns about his ability to get his shot at the next level. The 6-foot-8 forward has a creative offensive arsenal, but the fit is an interesting one in Chicago, and they are going to need him to excel from day one.
