Red Sox beat Orioles on Jonathan Herrera’s walk-off single (Video)

Red Sox fans have no reason to gripe this fine day-after-Independence-Day afternoon. Boston went home winners against the Orioles Saturday after Jonathan Herrera blooped a broken bat single to plate Jonny Gomes in the bottom of the ninth.

Actually, scratch that. Boston doesn’t get to go home yet because they still have a second game to play against Baltimore. So the Red Sox have a shot at the sweep vs. the Orioles.
Koji Uehara got the win for Boston in game one in relief of Jon Lester who gave up just 2 unearned on 5 hits in 8 innings of work with 7 strikeouts. That won’t hurt Lester’s trade value any (if Boston indeed is looking to trade Lester, which they might be tempted to do now after seeing what the Cubs got for Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel).
Stephen Drew hit a home run for Boston off the Orioles’ Miguel Gonzalez, his first jack of the year. T.J. McFarland took the loss for the O’s in relief.
John Lackey takes the mound for Boston in game 2 against Baltimore’s Ubaldo Jimenez.
