The Detroit Pistons are not making a whole lot of noise in the free agent market but they’re still looking to make deals where they can if they help improve the team. There were rumors of a Josh Smith trade with the Sacramento Kings but those talks have seemingly gone nowhere.

But talks in general with the Kings are sticking around as the Pistons interest in restricted free agent point guard Isaiah Thomas continue to mount. Three teams are on Thomas’ wish list and the Pistons rank under the Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat, but there seems to be mutual interest.

NBA scribe Jared Zwerling furthers along rumors about Thomas landing in Detroit by passing along word that the Pistons are open to a sign-and-trade that could land them the Kings young guard.

A lot still needs to happen in free agency before anyone starts to move as the market is controlled right now by Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. Those two are clogging up the free agent pipeline but the Pistons are positioning themselves to catch Isaiah Thomas when the signings begin to flow.
