Potential destinations: Dallas, Toronto, Washington, Miami, Portland

It’s almost weird to consider Vince Carter a second-tier free agent, however being 37-years old and in the final stages of his career, he’s adapted to his new role as a sixth man coming off the bench.

Carter was a staple for the Mavs off of the bench last season, averaging 11.9 points per game in just over 24 minutes per game during the regular season and bumped those numbers up in the playoffs (27.1 MPG, 12.6 PPG) including his game-winning three-pointer against the Spurs which allowed fans to see vintage Vince Carter for maybe the last time.

The Mavericks want to re-sign Carter and have made him a priority this offseason. However, Carter has also landed on the radar of the Miami Heat, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Portland Trail Blazers.

Blazers star guard Damian Lillard told Comcast Sportsnet Northwest that he has Carter in his list of free-agents he would want Portland to sign or look at.

At the moment, Dallas is the current front-runner to keep Carter.
