The Dallas Mavericks swung and missed on Carmelo Anthony and won’t be getting into the sweepstakes for LeBron James unless he comes to them with interest but the team is still busy adding free agents they think can help them win in 2014-15.

More from Dallas Mavericks

After bringing back Dirk Nowitzki and Devin Harris as well as re-acquiring Tyson Chandler beofre the draft, the Mavericks are looking at bringing back Vince Carter as they continue to bring back old players they know work in their system.

Carter’s deal is actually closer that anyone thinks as in all they hype about the Miami Heat adding two free agents, Vince Carter has quietly begun nearing an agreement to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks.

According to NBA.com’s Jeff Caplan, the Dallas Mavericks are nearing an agreement with Vince Carter to bring him back to Dallas for another season.

Dwain Price from the Star-Telegram also noted that a deal with Carter is starting to get closer to happening.

Bringing Carter back not only helps with chemistry and continuity but it gives the Mavs one of the better veteran shooters on the open market. There was talk that the Miami Heat might be interested in him but the Mavs love to watch out for their own and Vince Carter falls under the category of players fans and ownership love.
