North Korea files U.N. complaint over The Interview

It’s being reported today that the United Nations have received a formal complaint from North Korea over the James Franco and Seth Rogen film, The Interview. North Korea is decrying the film as an “act of war.” So with that I will tread very lightly here and keep my laughter bottled up inside. I mean, I don’t want to piss off North Korea.

The upcoming Sony film is about an assassination attempt on the countries supreme leader, Kim Jong-un. Franco is a talk show host who with his producer land an exclusive interview with the dictator only to be approached by the CIA with a mission to kill.

North Korea’s U.N. Ambassador, Ja Song Nam, is accusing the United States of committing an act of war and sponsoring terrorism by allowing the film to be released.

"“To allow the production and distribution of such a film on the assassination of an incumbent head of a sovereign state should be regarded as the most undisguised sponsoring of terrorism as well as an act of war,” Ja wrote, according to Reuters, which saw the letter.“The United States authorities should take immediate and appropriate actions to ban the production and distribution of the aforementioned film; otherwise, it will be fully responsible for encouraging and sponsoring terrorism,” he said."

North Korea has vowed to retaliate if the film is allowed to be released via their foreign ministry.

"“If the U.S. administration connives at and patronizes the screening of the film, it will invite a strong and merciless countermeasure.”"

In typical Seth Rogen fashion, Rogen tweeted a response:  “People don’t usually wanna kill me for one of my movies until after they’ve paid 12 bucks for it.”

The Interview is set to open domestically on October 10th, no word on whether other countries will either release the film or ban the film.
