ATLANTA HAWKS

The Atlanta Hawks pushed the Indiana Pacers to seven games in the playoffs and people were surprised by the generally underachieving squad, but they’ve been playing the “Nobody Knows” angle for a while. But they’ve got a strong squad and a depth of talent that could even rival the Spurs in regards to not having a weak spot. They won’t have a one-two punch like they did in the Josh SmithJoe Johnson era, but their cast is solid. Dennis Schroeder’s progression and the return of Al Horford in a healthy form will be key signs as to what direction the Hawks are able to take.

The Hawks took Adreian Payne with the 15th pick and their big man core got another piece stronger. Payne is a big stretch four, the new Maltese Falcon for NBA teams and a quality guy coming out of Tom Izzo’s Michigan State system. He should be ready to be on the floor this season. The Hawks weaponry is too good to discount.
