NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

For much, if not all of his career, Johnson has worked with average quarterbacks. That would change with the Patriots, as he’d get to haul in passes from future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. And with Brady perhaps in the final stages of his illustrious career, the team may want to surround him with as much talent as possible.

Last season, Danny Amendola underwhelmed as Brady’s go-to man in an injury-riddled campaign. Acquiring Johnson would lessen the burden on Amendola, as well as give the team’s younger receivers — Kenbrell Thompkins and Aaron Dobson — a respected mentor to work with.

For the Patriots, perennial Super Bowl contenders, Johnson would represent their first true No. 1 pass-catcher since Randy Moss. He may just be the one that puts them back over the championship edge.
