JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Much like the Browns, the Jaguars have the money (an NFL-high $27.345 million in available cap space, per Overthecap.com) and a major need due to its own suspended wideout, Justin Blackmon.

Behind Cecil Shorts on the depth chart is Ace Sanders and a whole lot of unproven talent — rookies Allen Robinson, Marquise Lee and Allen Hurns. Johnson, who hauled in 109 passes for 1,407 yards and five touchdowns last season, is about as proven as proven gets. He’s also shown no signs of succumbing to Father Time.

Blake Bortles, the No. 3 overall pick and Jacksonville’s quarterback of the future, needs a foundation. Johnson can be the first brick.

The Texans may sooner let Johnson walk for nothing than trade him to the Jags, a division rival. This marriage is unlikely to materialize, but, hey, crazier things have happened.
