But: If McCown can’t pick up where he left off last season in Chicago, can Mike Glennon lead this team to a solid season?

A year ago, the third-round pick from North Carolina State took over for jettisoned quarterback Josh Freeman and filled in admirably. As a rookie, he completed 59.4 percent of his passes for 2,608 yards and threw more than twice as many scores (19) than interceptions (9). However, Glennon was sacked 40 times in his 13 appearances and lost four of his seven fumbles.

Are we forecasting doom for McCown? That’s certainly not the case. But keep in mind that in 50 games with five teams prior to last year’s performance with the Bears, the traveling signal-caller combined to throw 37 touchdown passes while being picked off 44 times.
