There was a rumor that the Wizards would be getting new uniforms of some kind and those turned out to be these alternates that feature the Washington Monument inside of the logo on the shorts.
Here’s the official statement on the new uniforms from the Wizards and how you can buy them:
"The Washington Wizards announced today that the team will add an alternate uniform to their collection for wear during the 2014-15 season. The new jersey will be primarily navy blue with red color-blocking at the top and “Washington” listed on the front while the navy shorts will feature the secondary “Monument” logo.Fans will have a chance to purchase the alternate jersey on Oct. 1. Retail information as well as when the alternate uniform will be showcased during the 2014-15 season will be released at a later date."
The new uniforms for the Wizards are representative of their new winning way, which will be further aided by the addition of Paul Pierce and may hit a high mark with the hopeful acquisition of Kevin Durant in 2016. But for now, these new uniforms reflect a new era for the Wizards where the winning is new but they style is vintage Washington.
