The weather conditions Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium went from baseball-friendly to scene-from-Noah in about four seconds flat, which presented a problem for the grounds crew as they attempted to unroll the tarp and get it onto the field.

The rain water accumulated on the tarp so quickly that the grounds crew was unable to unfold it and pull it across the infield. This is why teams should have elephants on hand at every game, but I digress.
Long story short, the infield got totally soaked with no tarp over it. By the time the grounds crew figured out a way to get the tarp completely unfolded, it was too late.
Both teams’ managers inspected the field and decided it was unplayable. The call was made to end the game right there in the middle of the fourth. Since four-and-a-half innings were in the books with the home team ahead, the Yankees got the win.
Well, Mother Nature really got the win, but you know what I mean.
Again, elephants at the stadium. Solve a lot of these tarp pulling issues. Just my two cents.
