5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Josh McCown vs. Mike Glennon

While NFL history is full of quarterback controversies, its been said that there isn’t one in Tampa Bay in 2014.

Or is there?

Josh McCown, Mike Glennon, and the rest of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers reported to training camp on Thursday of this past week, eager to get back to football and with a new man at the helm of the ship.

Former Chicago Bears head coach, Lovie Smith was hired during the offseason. One of the first major moves made by Smith was to bring in another former Bear, quarterback Josh McCown.

McCown is a Jacksonville, Florida native and is entering his thirteenth year of action in the National Football League. The man he is set to replace is second year QB, Mike Glennon. Glennon guided the Bucs to a 4-12 record last year as a rookie but was only featured in 13 of the 16 games after Josh Freeman was benched.

While McCown has been given a $10 million contract and is fully expected to start the season for the Bucs, Glennon is not giving up.

"“He (Smith) just said, ‘to start out, there’s got to be a person to start that goes out with the first group first and that person is Josh. Lovie said to me and to the team yesterday the best players are going to play. And I don’t think that’s any different for the quarterback position.”"

The quarterback situation has been called “healthy”, and Glennon has been labeled the QB of the future in Tampa. If McCown struggles however, (like he has throughout a majority of his career) expect Glennon to be ready and willing to take over.

McCown threw for 13 touchdowns as Jay Cutler‘s backup in Chicago last season, but he has a challenge ahead of him this year as a starter in Tampa.
