The Washington Redskins new regime is looking to make their impact felt on the team right out of the gate and they have wasted no time making a big statement at the expense of 2013 fifth-round pick Brandon Jenkins.

Jenkins was early in his second training camp, but he failed to impress the coaches and was delivered his walking papers.
According to Tarik El-Bashir of CSNWashington.com, Jenkins was released just hours after a very poor effort on the field during Sunday morning’s practice session. Jenkins reportedly struggled in 1-one-1’s, and the team cut him loose.
Last season, Jenkins recorded just one tackle in six appearances.
With Jenkins failing to contribute as a special teams player, there was no need for the Redskins to hang on to the former Florida State standout.
Now that Jenkins is off of the roster, the Redskins depth chart at outside linebacker includes Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, Trent Murphy and Rob Jackson.
