9. Tony Parker:

2013-14 Stat Line: 68 games, 29.4 MPG, 16.7 PPG, 5.7 APG, 2.3 RPG, 0.5 SPG, .499/.373/.811 shooting, 18.9 PER

Before San Antonio Spurs fans pick those picket signs back up and start complaining about being disrespected yet again, hear me out. Tony Parker is still one of the NBA’s best point guards and when he gets going in a playoff series, all bets are off. He’s put more through the spin cycle in his career than most single mothers at the laundromat, he has tons of championship experience and no one should underestimate him on any given night.

However, we have to factor in that he plays for the most complete team, top to bottom, in the NBA. We have to factor in that he plays with one of the greatest teammates in NBA history in Tim Duncan, not to mention one of its best coaches in Gregg Popovich. We also have to note that his numbers took a significant dive from 2012-13 to 2013-14 and that he played less than 30 minutes per game this season.

That’s by design, of course. This isn’t San Antonio’s first rodeo and Pop is a master at managing his players’ minutes. But it’s hard to expect that with another year and another championship run under his belt, Tony Parker will suddenly rediscover his youth and put up monster numbers like he did back in his prime. The Spurs know it’s all about saving energy for the playoffs, so we can only move Parker so high up this list if he cruises through the regular season.
