5. John Wall:

2013-14 Stat Line: 82 games, 36.3 MPG, 19.3 PPG, 8.8 APG, 4.1 RPG, 1.8 SPG, .433/.351/.805 shooting, 19.5 PER

As much as Kyrie Irving’s flaws will fade from center stage this season thanks to LeBron James (and possibly Kevin Love), John Wall is the better all-around player at this point and the Washington Wizards could make some noise in a wide open Eastern Conference this season. Wall is a better distributor, a much better defender and though his shot could use a little fine-tuning, he will be a better and more crucial piece of the Wizards than Kyrie will be in Cleveland.

Bradley Beal will have another year under his belt and now that Washington has re-signed Marcin Gortat, the Wizards will look to continue their success from their surprising 2013-14 playoff run. Wall with the ball in his hands in transition is one of the surest bets for a SportsCenter Top 10 highlight and his speed off the dribble makes him a rough cover on the defensive end.

Wall, like Beal, probably takes too many long range two-pointers and should work to cut down on that element of his game. But the Cavs will be going through an adjustment period, the Chicago Bulls still rely on Derrick Rose’s health, the Indiana Pacers lost their best playmaker in Lance Stephenson and the Miami Heat just won’t be the same without LeBron James. The Wizards could definitely make some noise this season and Wall and Beal will be the driving force in the backcourt.
