Catch Yer Own Train by The Silver Seas, recommended for Isaiah Thomas

By David Vertsberger (@_Verts)

Breaking up sucks. 99% of the time, someone’s walking away distraught if not completely heartbroken. You hear it in a lot of songs about relationships coming apart: the somber melodies, lyrics reflecting on what’s now lost. But sometimes, breakups are inevitable. Sometimes, a pair are complete opposites, and ending their bond was long overdue and what’s best for both parties.

Isaiah Thomas and the Sacramento Kings were not meant to be. The Kings made it clear they didn’t want to pay him nearly what he’s owed. Thomas made it clear he wished to be on a team where he’d be appreciated for his talents. And so, the two moved on. Sacramento signed Darren Collison to be their point guard. Thomas signed a four-year deal with the Phoenix Suns.

Is Thomas distressed? Full of regret?

Nope. Like “Catch Yer Own Train,” Thomas is upbeat and taking a positive look at the situation that’s come about. Breakups can sometimes be what a person needs most, freedom from a connection with someone who saw things completely differently. He’s ready to move on because he understands it wasn’t working out with the Kings. They like the sun, he likes the rain. They didn’t want him, so now it’s time they catch their own train.
