NFL Quarterbacks: Manziel, 7 worst to play in 2014
By Bryce Olin
Geno Smith
Geno Smith had an up-and-down rookie season. I mean that literally. One game Smith would play well, and the next week, he’d be terrible. The Jets alternated wins and losses for the first nine games of the season, basically based on Smith’s play, before a three-game losing streak derailed the Jets’ season.
Smith was decent in his first-year, but if you look at his stats, it doesn’t seem like he was all that decent.

Only 12 touchdown passes to 21 interceptions is definitely getting Smith on the bad quarterback list until he shows he can actually play every week in the NFL, instead of just “showing signs.”
The Jets added some talented weapons around Smith, like wide receiver Eric Decker and running back Chris Johnson. We’ll see if Smith can figure out a way to get them the ball effectively. If he can’t, I anticipate head coach Rex Ryan will have Smith on a short leash. The Jets also have Michael Vick and Tajh Boyd waiting in the wings if Smith struggles.
