LeBron James: 5 reasons why “The Essay” feels phony

Excluding Andrew Wiggins and Andrew Bennett

It’s clear at this point James’ decision to exclude Wiggins and Bennett in his essay was not a coincidence. It was not an oversight, or whatever James’ team wants to call it. It was calculated, just like everything else in the essay.

By now, we know James and Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert worked out some deal to get Kevin Love from Minnesota. It just so happens the two young, integral players on the Cavs are now the two main pieces, reportedly, included in the trade for Love, which is going to happen. Minnesota Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor said it’s going to happen. Brian Windhorst, on the B.S. Report with Bill Simmons, said that James knows Love to the Cavs is a “done deal.” Love is going to the Cavs.

I don’t know what the arrangement was for James and Gilbert, but it’s obvious James knew, or had a very good idea that it was very possible Wiggins and Bennett weren’t going to be with the team.

This is the first indication that James is now calling the shots in Cleveland. Which leads me to…
