The O.co Coliseum rally possum made an appearance Saturday night even though, with the A’s leading 9-2 at the time, its magic was not really needed. I can only assume the possum was feeling lonely and wanted some attention, otherwise why would it bother coming out in a blow out?

The other possibility is that the possum is a dumb wild animal who doesn’t know it’s considered a good luck charm and just comes out randomly because it’s spooked by the noise or is driven mad with hunger by the smells of food wafting into its lair deep in the bowls of O.co.

Whatever the case, the A’s did not need the rally possum’s magic Saturday night against the Twins. The last time the rally possum appeared, the A’s were in a tie game in the 10th and needed its good luck to get a walk-off victory.

I guess rally possum just wanted to make sure. It was worried the A’s bullpen might blow up so it came out to spread a little magic and protect the relievers from melting down. The A’s held on to easily defeat the Twins 9-4 so I guess you could say rally possum did it again? Sure. Let’s go with that.
