O-R-I-O-L-S. I think you left out a letter there Rick Dempsey. But that’s close enough I guess. At least you didn’t fall down or spill anything on yourself or hit anyone in the head with an elbow.

More from Baltimore Orioles

In Dempsey’s defense, it’s not that easy to translate letters in your brain into gestures with your body. Anyone who’s tried doing YMCA in a state of severe inebriation knows that. Hell, there are people who struggle with YMCA even while sober. And that’s four letters. Orioles has seven letters. For some, spelling Orioles would be virtually impossible.

Imagine a civilization where people communicated entirely through dances that spelled out words. And you thought high school commencement speeches were boring now. People would die of exertion just trying to order at McDonald’s. So yeah, it’s a good thing nature gave us the ability to speak with our mouths. Cause spelling words with dance, that would be a horror show.

Rick Dempsey has given us a glimpse into a world that never existed. And we are very grateful not to live in that world.
