NFL: Ranking the offseason for all 32 teams
By Bryce Olin
28. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs were the surprise of the 2013. With the steady heads of Andy Reid and Alex Smith at the helm, the Chiefs finished 11-5 and had the sixth best scoring offense in the league (26.9/game) and fifth best defense (19.1/game).
In the first 90 minutes of free agency, the Chiefs lost a lot more than got back in free agency. Kansas City lost three offensive linemen– LT Brandon Albert, OG Jon Asomoah, OG Geoff Schwartz—and WR Dexter McCluster and DE Tyson Jackson. They also cut ties with former Pro Bowl CB Brandon Flowers.
The Chiefs locked up RB Jamaal Charles for another two seasons, as he proved he is one of the best running backs in the game last season. Other than that, the Chiefs are thin with talent on offense. The only big signing was draft pick was RB/WR De’Anthony Thomas from Oregon. Injuries to any offensive players, like Charles, Dwyane Bowe, or Alex Smith, could decimate the Chiefs season.
