NFL: Ranking the offseason for all 32 teams
By Bryce Olin
26. Buffalo Bills
Drafting wide receiver Sammy Watkins makes the loss of WR Stevie Johnson basically nonexistent.
Watkins adds explosiveness the Bills have lacked since… I don’t even know when the last time the Bills had a player like Watkins. Quarterback E.J. Manuel should be the most relieved because his numbers are going to skyrocket. Watkins is the perfect combination of possession receiver and big play receiver. He can turn a five-yard reception into a 95-yard touchdown, or post-up on a hook route and hold the defender off. That’s what Watkins brings to the table.
The Bills rounded out the offseason by signing RB Anthony Dixon, LB Brandon Spikes, and CB Corey Graham. Spikes and Graham have the biggest shoes to fill this season, stepping in for former safety Jairus Byrd, who bolted for New Orleans in free agency, and LB Kiko Alonso, who is missing this season because of a torn ACL.
The Bills are going to be better this season, but they’re still another year away from the playoffs.
