Carolina Panthers Kelvin Benjamin

Cam Newton meet your new best friend Kelvin Benjamin from Florida State. During Newton’s career with the Panthers his number-one WR has always been the feisty yet smaller Steve Smith.

Benjamin is a completely different animal and the other two top Carolina receivers are the unspectacular Jerricho Cotchery and Jason Avant. I’m a fan of both players, but they’re not going to shift a defense.

At the NFL combine, Benjamin measured 6-foot-5 with an 83-inch wingspan and 32.5 inch vertical — hello catch radius.

Benjamin is the most talented Panthers wide receiver the second he steps foot on the field and is the type of target to help accentuate Newton’s positives. Newton at times has bouts of inaccuracy, which a player like Benjamin can cover up.
