NFL Rankings: 10 best wide receivers in the league
By Brad Rowland
6) Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
Larry Fitzgerald didn’t reach 1,000 receiving yards despite playing in all 16 games during the 2013 season.
That fact is indisputable, and yet, he is still a top-flight wide receiver. Fitzgerald has battled subpar quarterback play for the lion’s share of his career (shout-out to Kurt Warner), and that was certainly the case with Carson Palmer last season, especially given that Palmer was consistently running for his life behind a porous offensive line.
Still, Fitzgerald has the best hands in the league by almost any calculation, and that is evidenced by the fact that he made just one (!) drop in 136 targets last season. Read that sentence again.
At this point, Fitzgerald is an average player with regard to speed and explosiveness, but being a fantastic route runner with great hands helps a great deal, and it is a shame that his post-prime years could be wasted.
