5. Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

Last year, the Indianapolis Colts tried to make a game-changing move by trading a first-round draft pick to the Cleveland Browns for former the third overall pick of the 2012 NFL draft, running back Trent Richardson. As it played out, Richardson was nothing of the sort for Colts and averaged only 2.9 yards per carry last season.

Richardson has been written off as bust by a lot of the NFL’s passionate fans, but the Colts still won’t give up the dream of Richardson becoming a workhorse running back. With Vick Ballard’s season-ending Achilles injury, the Colts, most likely, will be forced to use Trent Richardson and Ahmad Bradshaw as their main two running backs this season. The Colts, simply, don’t have many other options.

That means Richardson will play, and the Colts will rely on him to get the job done. Unfortunately, as he’s proven so far in his career, Richardson doesn’t have the speed to break away from in the NFL. In his career, he’s rushed for 1,513 yards on 455 carries, an average of 3.3 yards per carry. In 31 games and 455 carries, Richardson’s longest carry was 32 yards in his first season with the Browns.

That’s the guy the Colts are betting on. They’re setting themselves up to be let down.
