3. Eli Manning, New York Giants

It’s no secret Eli Manning has had some up-and-down seasons in his career. Last season, though, was the worst season of his career, in which Manning threw the least touchdown passes (18) since he was a rookie and threw more interceptions (27) than he has in any other season. With Manning playing that poorly, the New York Giants didn’t have a chance. In part, Manning struggled because of a weak offensive line and was sacked 39 times last season, tied for 11th most in the league.

This season, unless you have unequivocal faith in Manning (Not Peyton), there’s really no reason to think 2014 is going to be that much better for Manning and the Giants. Chris Snee, the player that held the line together for the better part of ten years, retired this offseason.

The Giants did sign Left Tackle Will Beatty and Guard Geoff Schwartz to solidify their main weakness. Through the preseason, the o-line still hasn’t found its rhythm, and it’s causing some major problems. In two preseason games against the Steelers and Colts, Manning is 1-for-9 for only six yards.

While it’s still early, that’s never a good sign.

On paper, it seems like the Giants might be better this season, but it takes time to put together a formidable offensive line. People are expecting the Giants, especially Manning, to be better this season. I wouldn’t get my hopes up, Giants fans. He’s no Taio Cruz, but Manning is still only going to break your heart.
