Johnny Manziel and 15 NFL players sure to disappoint in 2014
7. Eli Manning, New York Giants
Manning, 33, led the NFL in interceptions for the third time in his career last year when he tossed a career-high 27 picks as the Giants went 7-9.
The Giants hired Ben McAdoo to be the team’s new offensive coordinator after a dreadful season last year and after serving as Aaron Rodgers‘ quarterbacks coach the past two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, expectations may be that Manning will morph into the model of efficiency and domination like Rodgers.
That’s just not going to happen.
New York did the smart and tried to give Manning a shiny new weapon to work with after letting Hakeem Nicks walk in free agency with the drafting of Odell Beckham Jr with the No. 12 pick in the NFL Draft.
However, the former LSU standout and last year’s Paul Hornung Award winner as the most versatile player in college has been slowed for the bulk of the preseason with a hamstring injury and has yet to play a preseason game.
If there is a slight sliver of hope it is that the last two times Manning led the NFL in interceptions he managed to make the Pro Bowl the following year and led the Giants to 12 and nine wins, respectively.
I think this is another 7-9 team, however.
