1. Johnny Manziel, Cleveland Browns

Manziel has had eight drives with the Browns this preseason and led the team to a whopping 10 points. He is 14-27 passing with a single touchdown through two preseason games and expectations are sky-high for the 2012 Heisman winner and 2014 first round pick who is not even guaranteed a starting spot.

Doing things like this is not going to help his cause and curry and sympathy from fans who are rooting for Manziel to fail.

Brian Hoyer has a tenuous lead in the most-discussed quarterback battle in the NFL but it is only a matter of time until Manziel is thrown into the fire and head coach Mike Pettine names “Johnny Football” the team’s starter.

When that time comes, Manziel is set up to fail. With the suspension of Josh Gordon, Manziel won’t have any wide receivers of consequence to throw the ball too and teams will be able to focus on eliminating Jordan Cameron and forcing Manziel to look at Miles Austin and Andrew Hawkins.

Does that sound like putting a young quarterback in a favorable position to succeed?

It doesn’t to me and Manziel is going to find that what he did so well in the SEC is not going to fly in the NFL.
