Johnny Manziel and 15 NFL players sure to disappoint in 2014
11. Steven Jackson, Atlanta Falcons
Jackson, 31, was limited to 12 games last year in his first season with the Falcons and the workhorse running back is already battling injury in the preseason.
Not a good sign for Jackson to erase the bad memories of the Falcons 2013 season, especially considering how unkind the NFL is to running backs over the age of 30. Even more so when you consider Jackson has had more than 2,800 touches in his career and been subjected to a ridiculous pounding.
After eight straight 1,000-yard seasons with the St. Louis Rams from 2005-2012, Jackson had his lowest rushing total in his career with 543 yards and his 3.5 yards-per-carry average was was another new low for the three-time running back.
I don’t envision a scenario where Jackson reverses these trends and flourishes for the Falcons this year and produces the type of numbers he made routine during his bright career with the Rams.
