Johnny Manziel and 15 NFL players sure to disappoint in 2014
9. Arian Foster, Houston Texans
I worry we have seen the best of Foster, 27, in the NFL after injuries took its toll on the former rushing champion and limited him to only eight games last season.
The three-time Pro Bowler and 2010 rushing champ is only one year removed from rushing for 15 touchdowns, but the concerning part for me is the NFL-leading 351 carries he had that year. That heavy of a workload reared its ugly head in 2013 when his body broke down and I don’t know if it has rebounded yet.
Foster was held out of training camp for nearly two weeks with what was believed to be a hamstring injury and that is not a god sign for a player looking for a rebound season after rushing for 542 yards and a single touchdown last year.
The Texans could struggle mightily this year under first-year head coach Bill O’Brien as the quarterback position looks to be a mess and Foster is going to see eight-man fronts routinely. I don’t have faith he can revert back to his early career form and Ben Tate won’t be there to come in and offer relief after signing with the Cleveland Browns this offseason.
