Johnny Manziel and 15 NFL players sure to disappoint in 2014
8. Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Since Romo had a career-high 69.5 completion percentage in 2010, the Cowboys signal-caller has seen his completion percentage drop three consecutive years. Coming off season-ending back surgery in the final week of the season, I expect that decline to continue in 2014.
Romo has still averaged 30 touchdowns per year but after seeing his passing yards per game drop to the lowest they’ve been since the 2006 season and nearly 1,100 yards fewer than his career-high 4,903 mark in 2012 and it is easy to see Romo is on the downside of his career.
The Cowboys have elite weapons offense in DeMarco Murray, Dez Bryant and Jason Witten to go along with a rapidly-improving offensive line, but the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback has a balky back that has me concerned he can get through a 16-game schedule.
After missing the postseason four straight seasons, the Cowboys are unlikely to snap the streak this season with a miserable defense and a quarterback who will be asked too much and a back that simply can not handle the weight of the pressure any longer.
