There are areas of dire need on the roster and one of those areas is at center. Right now the free agent market for centers is pretty lame, to say the least, and it’s not a place where the Cavs are going to find an NBA title ready center.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst on ESPN Cleveland radio, the Cleveland Cavaliers are trying to fix that problem by acquring Timofey Mozgov from the Denver Nuggets. Windhorst states that the Cavs have actually have been trying to acquire the big man for the past few weeks.
This makes a ton of sense for the Cavaliers as they need to find a center to fill out their frontcourt — because they have no one right now. Anderson Varejao is the only option and he’s an injury risk with no netting underneath him. Should he go down, the Cavaliers have zero depth at center and it’s one of the holes in their plan to win an NBA title this year.
