Oklahoma City Thunder to trade Hasheem Thabeet to Philadelphia 76ers

Every team that sees themselves as a contender in the Western Conference is trying to add one or two more pieces in order to catch the San Antonio Spurs.

The Los Angeles Clippers had big man Ekpe Udoh in for a visit Tuesday and are trying to figure out a way to add veteran and stay under the cap.

The Oklahoma City Thunder, who knocked the Clippers out of the postseason in 2014, would likely also like to add a veteran like Udoh and on Tuesday, they may a trade to create an asset for themselves.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Thunder are trading Thabeet to the Philadelphia 76ers.

For the Thunder, they may be able to afford another veteran. Thabeet had a non-guaranteed deal and many expected him to be waived anyway.

Thabeet played in 23 games for the Thunder last season, averaging 1.2 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game while shooting 56.5% from the field and 20.0% from the free throw line. I Thabeet was once thought of as a fantastic prospect. The Memphis Grizzlies took the former Connecticut Huskies’ center with the number two overall pick in the first round of the 2009 NBA Draft and he has since played for the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers In his five-year NBA career, he’s put up 2.2 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 56.7% from the field and 57.8% from the free throw line. Thabeet is still just 27 years old.
