NFL: 5 teams in deep trouble come Week 1
By Pete Schauer
Indianapolis Colts
This is not a reflection of the Indianapolis Colts or their personnel–it’s merely the fact that they get the Denver Broncos on the road in Week 1.
Coming off of the Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks last season, Peyton Manning and the Broncos will be ready to go at home on Sept. 7th, and unfortunately for Indy, they’re the first of many victims for Denver this year.
There’s no way Andrew Luck and the Colts can match the Broncos’ offensive output, especially with a sketchy Trent Richardson in the backfield and an inconsistent Hakeem Nicks at wideout.
The Colts’ D ranked a respectable 13th in passing defense a season ago, and despite yet another concussion for Wes Welker, Manning still has plenty of weapons in Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders and Julius Thomas.
I do think the Colts will be a major player in the AFC this season, but they’ll have to wait until Week 2 against another difficult opponent in the Philadelphia Eagles.
