New York Giants

Full disclosure–I’m a Giants fan.

But I even realize that Eli Manning and the New York Giants’ offense has looked anemic for most of the preseason despite the 4-0 record.

Manning has completed just 19 of 37 pass attempts (51 percent) this preseason–a far way from that 70 percent goal–to go with just one touchdown. It’s going to extremely difficult for the G-Men to keep up with an explosive Detroit Lions offense in Week 1, especially on the road. And let’s not forget what type of season Manning is coming off of, as ESPN helps us remember.

New York’s offensive line hasn’t protected Manning, and the fact that there are more concerns about the Giants’ offense than the New York Jets’ after their most recent preseason game is really all you need to know about Big Blue heading into Week 1.

After all of this discussion about the offense, we still haven’t even touched on the defense, which ranked 18th in points per game in 2013, at 23.9 per game.

On top of it all, the Giants have lost their first game of the season the last two years, and it’s looking like they’ll make it three in a row here in 2014.
