West Virginia QB Clint Trickett says 1st kiss was with Nick Saban’s daughter

No one will ever accuse West Virginia starting quarterback Clint Trickett of being shy with the media anymore (if every that was the case).

That’s because Trickett went full blast on Nick Saban’s daughter ahead of the matchup between Trickett’s Mountaineers and Saban’s Crimson Tide.

OK, maybe not “full blast,” but defiantly personal, as Trickett revealed that Saban’s daughter was actually his first kiss.

Nothing like a little playground love to spice up an opening week matchup, huh?

Given the Saban’s and Trickett’s know each other pretty well, it’s unlikely this will be taken very seriously by Saban. Then again, this guy is known to use almost anything as a source of motivation for his team.

Can’t you just see Saban standing in front of his defensive meeting room and cajoling those players to sack Trickett and sack him hard in the name of his daughter’s honor? That sort of stuff can be powerful motivation for a team that seems to be willing to walk through walls for their head coach as it is.

Clearly Trickett was having a bit of fun with the situation and the relationship between Saban and Trickett’s family is a strong one, but putting this out in the media before a game wasn’t the smartest of moves.

We’ll see how/if West Virginia head coach Dana Holgerson reigns in Trickett’s access to the media following this moment, and I’m betting he gets a few words of coaching from someone in the athletic communications office at the very least.
