49ers’ Chris Borland gets a pick-6 against Texans’ Tom Savage (GIF)
Remember when Chris Borland was considered a potential first round pick? Well the poor guy fell to the 77th pick — the third round — because he was little. At 5-foot-11, 245 pounds, he’s definitely bigger than the average man. And he came up big in the San Francisco 49ers preseason finale against the Houston Texans. He nabbed a pick-6 on Texans rookie quarterback Tom Savage in the third quarter.

Borland jumps an out route in the flat, and premeditates the wide receiver’s break. There’s no way Savage should have thrown that ball, but Borland does well to get there, catch the ball and take it to the house.
Savage is looking like vintage Matt Schaub already. After a record setting season of pick-sixes, this is probably the last thing Houston fans want to see from the supposed future face of their franchise. The former University of Pittsburgh quarterback will be aright. He’s not even the backup quarterback yet, and so he will have plenty of time to develop.
The Texans depth chart goes Ryan Fitzpatrick, Case Keenum and then Savage. At least they’ve got Jadeveon Clowney, right?
