Welker suffered a concussion from the hit.
After Swearinger laid the lumber on Welker, Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning headbutted Swearinger and was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct. Earlier this week, Manning was fined $8,268 by the league office.
Many defenders were coming to the defense of Swearinger in the media, because he led with his shoulder and it was Welker who changed levels and left his head exposed for the big hit.
As for the fine to Manning, he didn’t seem too concerned.
“I accept it. Money well spent,” Manning said.
