Green Bay Packers

If: The Green Bay defense can show some semblance of improvement. Over the past three seasons, this unit has had its problems one way or another and this past year, it all came apart. In 2013, the Pack was a dismal 25th vs. the run and 24th vs. the pass in the NFL when it came to yards allowed.

And: The Packers offense remains balanced. Despite having to use four different starting quarterbacks, only two teams in the league gained fewer total yards than Mike McCarthy’s club in 2013. Led by NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Eddie Lacy, Green Bay ranked seventh in the league in rushing—up considerably from the previous year (20th). That made life much easier for Aaron Rodgers or whoever lined up behind center last season.

But: That aforementioned defense doesn’t get more contributions from its younger players and recent draft choices it’s going to be another long year for Dom Capers’ unit. The good news is that veteran Julius Peppers looks ready and a good fit in his new role with his newest team.

Conclusion: The Packers have reached the playoffs each of the last five seasons and won the NFC North three consecutive years. They’ve managed to hold off the rest of the teams in the division in recent years but could be running out of time, especially if the defense doesn’t answer the bell. Still, don’t be against one of the best organizations in the league.
