Todd Gurley and the 20 best players in college football after Week 1
18. D.J. Foster, Arizona State Sun Devils
Foster had 15 carries for 147 yards and three touchdowns for the Sun Devils in their dominant win over Weber State. He was nearly a guaranteed first down every time he carried the ball, averaging 9.6 yards per rush. He added four receptions for 26 yards as a versatile weapon.
The loss of Marion Grice should not hurt this offense too much with the 5-11, 203-pound Foster making plays in this high-powered offense led by quarterback Taylor Kelly and complemented by wide receiver Jaelen Strong.
Foster ran for more than 500 yards (501) and had more than 600 (653) yards last year as one of the best-kept secrets in the Pac-12 and college football last year.
With a bigger role in 2014, look for Foster to keep his status as one of the top players in the country over the next few months.
