Steve Stone has been a color man for most of his career, notably alongside Harry Caray back in the good old days, but occasionally he is called upon to do play-by-play.

More from Chicago White Sox

This call of Tyler Flowers’ two run homer in the 10th inning of Tuesday night’s Twins-White Sox game pretty much tells you why Steve Stone has been a color man most of his life and is not a play-by-play guy.

Stone thinks Flowers’ ball was fouled off. Fine. You get one wrong now and then. But when Flowers’ ball ends up not being foul, and instead goes into the stands for a two-run homer, Stone’s reaction is pretty much the opposite of what you want your announcer’s reaction to be in that spot.

Joe Buck gets crap from people for not injecting any emotion into his calls. But Joe Buck looks like the second-coming of Gus Johnson compared to Steve Stone.

It’s not just that Stone clearly couldn’t care less about the game, it’s that he actually seems annoyed that something is going on requiring his vague attention.

Hey Tyler Flowers, stop hitting home runs, Steve Stone is trying to play Candy Crush Saga.

Okay, we get it Steve Stone, the White Sox are boring and you don’t want to be stuck at their games. But would it kill you to muster just the tiniest jot of professionalism?

Fake it Steve Stone. Please. For all the people who remember when you used to not totally suck. 1987 was a long time ago.
