New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins

This one may surprise a few people. I think most people think the Patriots will stroll into Miami and dispose of the Dolphins on Sunday. However, much like the Bengals/Ravens match up this is an important early divisional game. If Miami wants to compete in the East they need to knock off the defending division champs at home. While some may doubt if that can happen, Miami actually did beat the Patriots at home last season. With an improved offensive line the Dolphins should be able to give the Pats all they can handle in this one. I still think the Pats win the division, but Miami is just good enough to defend their home turf here against Tom Brady and the gang.

Oakland Raiders at New York Jets I’m sorry if this offends Raiders and Jets fans, but this game would get my “snoozer of the week” award for week one. I don’t think there will be a lot of offense when Geno Smith and Derek Carr face off on Sunday. I think the Jets have the better defense, are playing at home, and their QB has an extra year of experience over Oakland’s rookie starter. I just can’t see Oakland putting up enough points on the road against Rex Ryan’s defense to pull out a win here.
